Description

Thank you for your interest in Professional Development: Using Visual Text to Teach the Holocaust. We look forward to welcoming you to our first professional development course since 2022!

This is a 2-day workshop for middle and high school teachers who are interested in learning how to use visual text to teach the Holocaust in your classroom. Through the film Testimony of the Human Spirit and facilitated discussion led by Steve Goldberg, Director of Education at Holocaust and Human rights Education Center, teachers will learn how to integrate the film within their Holocaust units.

Price of admission includes both days of the workshop: Thursday, January 8, 2025 and Thursday, January 15, 2025 from 4:00–6:00 PM located at the Media Arts Lab–405 Manville Road, Pleasantville, NY 10570. Light refreshments will be included. Teachers will also receive 4 CTLE credits for attending both dates of this workshop.

Later in the Spring, teachers will be invited to bring their classes to the JBFC Theater to watch Testimony of the Human Spirit and have a discussion with Steve Goldberg afterwards. Teachers who attend both workshop dates will get priority when registering for this impactful event.

After purchasing this workshop, someone from the Education team will be in touch to confirm your registration and school information. If you are purchasing tickets for multiple people, please get in touch with us at education@burnsfilmcenter.org to share the names and emails of the other attendees.

Photographs will be taken of participants during this workshop and used indefinitely by the JBFC in internal correspondence, on our website, and on social media. By registering for this course, you consent to your photograph being taken and used for the purposes stated above.
